If the only lock on your door or the only lock you use is a night latch then please make sure it’s a high
security lock. Most night latch locks sometimes known as Yale locks are not sufficient to secure your property and
intruders know this and can easy gain access to your home!
Not sure if your night latch is secure? See our locksmith FAQs or give Affordalock a call today and we’ll check it over and recommend the right upgrade.
When choosing as new door most people go for the modern multipoint locking mechanism, great security and low
maintenance. However the mechanism should be oiled yearly to keep it running smoothly. If you look down the edge of
the door, there is usually a picture of a oil can demonstrating where to spray lubricant.
If you're not sure just

The euro cylinder is the most common lock, found on most new builds and many older properties, usually on uPVC doors. However, not all cylinders offer the same level of security. The best protection comes from 3 star cylinders, which are anti-pick, anti-drill, and snap-safe. They come in various sizes and are easy to fit, so if you're thinking of upgrading, 3 star locks are a great option.
Thinking of upgrading? Call Affordalock today for quick advice.
When your insurance company asks if your locks are BS3621, most people don’t have a clue. I get a lot of calls asking how to tell, but the easiest way is to look on the faceplate of the lock for the British Standard kite mark, it looks like a heart. If you can’t see one, your lock is probably not insurance approved, which means you may not be covered by most insurers, so it’s definitely something to be careful with.
Not sure if your lock is BS3621 approved? Give Affordalock a call and we’ll check it for you.
